That was scary! The first thing an experienced/ sensible hunter does, with a new gun, is shoot it on a shooting range (without a scope) to get the feel of the gun, then you add the scope and sight it in. My daughter shot her first deer with a .243 at 174 yards through the heart (with a scope). You have to get the animal with the first shot, because, unless someone is cheating by controlling the target, you don't usually get a second one, much less several more!Madam Palin couldn't shoot her way out of a paper bag!
